Browsing in Clifton Village The most des res area of Bristol stacked full of shops that are just to die for. Like Allure; a tiny boutique on Regent Street packing high-end fashion brands such as Paul & Joe and Antik Batik among other more obscure but delicious names. Room is a similarly dignified experience: discover designs from Earl Jeans to Eley Kishimoto. Princess Victoria Street is home to art galleries, secondhand book shops and trinket palaces while Clifton Arcad e at the end of Boyces Avenue will keep you entertained all day browsing amidst vintage jewellery, kitsch accessories, antique furniture, urbane home items, secondhand clothes and much more.

Stuff and nonsense
Head off the beaten track to truffle out some of Bristol's most interesting shops. The Architecture Centre (Narrow Quay), stocks the best selection of gifts ever; a lot of it design-led and architecture-based, especially the books, but don't let that put you off. You'll find jewellery, cushions, toys, models, cards and loads more ethically responsible items. Area 51 (Gloucester Road) is a great find for sci-fi fanatics (comics, graphic novels, games, videos, posters) while Heaven on Earth (Upper Maudlin Street) is a haven of religious kitsch from jewellery to iconography, bags to board games and more.
