• The thing people always say about Bristol’s The Naturals is how young they were when they started. Well, that’s as maybe, but they’re all grown up now. While their fiddly, emo-ish racket has clear precedents (Trail of Dead et al), they’re too nimble, gutsy and focused to be brushed off as mere copyists. Their sound is extremely well realised – with pitter-patter arpeggios leading in and out of passages of Zep-like thunder, and drums and bass that know exactly when to swing. The vocals are an asset too – leonine in a genre dominated by yelping puppies in testosterone-sapping skinny-fits. Even the track names are pretty sweet. Give them another try. (Adam Burrows)
