• Eddie Martin is familiar to many from fronting his electric band, but he’s also a stylish acoustic solo musician. This album catches Eddie playing acoustic guitar, harp and assorted foot percussion (mainly bass drum) as well as singing: in other words a one-man band. This particular format has a well-documented background in the blues, notably with Dr Isaiah Ross. Much of modern blues is based around virtuosity – superb singing, blistering guitar work or impassioned harp playing. Eddie Martin is capable of all of these, but he adds something that blues music is really all about: emotion. Recorded at State of The Art Studio in Bristol (with the exception of two live tracks), this is a top-quality piece of work. Great original songs complete what is a brilliant package from a musician on top of his form. (Tony Slinger)
