LOCAL EVENT
GLASTONBURY FESTIVAL

What: Despite the (guaranteed) rain, hefty ticket price and influx of C-list slebs poncing about backstage in Hunter wellies, this is still one of the most sought-after festie tickets on Earth, although this year's event had failed to sell out as we went to press. Its reduced appeal has been blamed by media pontificators on a variety of factors, including the weather, the complicated booking requirements and the fact that a rap artist had bagged the premium Saturday evening Pyramid Stage slot. Unusually, the Eavises have officially confirmed the three Pyramid Stage headliners for this year: Kings of Leon, Jay-Z and The Verve. Rumours abound that the 900-acre site will also be ringing to the sounds of Neil Diamond, Groove Armada, Massive Attack, Hot Chip, Sex Pistols, Kate Nash, Adele and Cerys Matthews (now, who said that ‘I’m A Celebrity…’ appearance wasn’t worth it?). Would-be litter pickers, stewards and wardens should see the website for who to contact. Price: £155 + £5 booking fee. Web: www.glastonburyfestivals.co.uk
