With such an enviable location, perched on a small hill directly overlooking the wide expanses of Bristol Water’s biggest reservoir, Chew Lake, Woodford Lodge offers diners a fabulous setting in which to appreciate some outstanding cuisine.
The Lodge is open for breakfast (during the fishing season), lunch and dinner, and diners travel from all over to take in the unrivalled views across the lake and taste the marvellous food on offer. Built with natural stone and slate, the octagon-shaped restaurant boasts golden walls, natural stone pillars, exposed beams and, of course, huge windows looking across the entire lake.
Treat yourself to anything from sandwiches and baked potatoes to grilled rump steak. Using as much local produce as possible, the menu features a broad range of dishes – at lunch, try the smoked sliced Chew Valley trout and prawns, drizzled with French dressing, or the Chew Valley chicken terrine. And for the main course, what about the grilled cod fillet with moray sauce, or the Woodford Lodge pie of the day? Perhaps the homemade fishcakes will tempt you, too. As well as the regular menu, you’ll always find some delicious specials on offer here, not to mention a full Sunday roast menu.
The superb food, magnificent views and prospect of a lakeside walk combine perfectly with the relaxed, friendly service at Woodford Lodge, making a visit to this unrivalled location an extremely pleasurable experience.
