It is easy to understand why Italian food is so hard to resist, especially since Strada opened its doors in the heart of Clifton Village last summer. Strada is a contemporary-styled restaurant with a warm and inviting interior. The menu is authentic, using the finest seasonal produce available, and includes time-honoured Italian fare as well as innovative dishes and seasonal specials.

Notable dishes include Linguine alla Pescatora (sautéed tiger prawns, squid, mussels and fresh clams in white wine garlic, chilli and fresh tomato sauce), Agnello Brasato (braised lamb shank served with an olive oil and sage potato puree in a rich tomato sauce) and Pollo con Funghi (chargrilled butterflied chicken breast with a creamy mushroom and marjoram sauce).

A range of traditional hand-stretched pizzas is also an integral feature on Strada’s menu. Options include the Bufala (buffalo mozzarella with tomato and basil, finished with Italian vine cherry tomatoes) and Parma (slices of proscuitto di Parma, rocket, tomato and mozzarella).

Desserts are also faithful to the authentic theme, with classics such as fondente al cacao (warm melting chocolate pudding) and Torroncino Affogato (iced nougat semi-freddo with a shot of espresso poured over). Strada serves purely regional, carefully selected Italian wines, beers and spirits, and every table receives complimentary bottled filtered water.
