The style of food at the Cavendish is modern British, with an emphasis on seasonal menus using the best West Country organic and free-range ingredients. Head chef Fran Snell and his team produce beautifully presented dishes with a perfect balance of flavours and texture.
The quality of ingredients and chefs’ skills excel in the a la carte dinner menus. Currently, a popular starter is hand-dived scallops, cauliflower fritter and curry oil, followed by roast fillet and slow-braised belly of pork, butternut squash and apple & black pudding croquette. A vegetarian option is included in all the menus - a favourite is pappardelle with fresh peas, broad beans, courgettes and asparagus with herb cream sauce. To finish, what could be more irresistible than hot chocolate fondant, steeped kumquats and mandarin sorbet?
The excellent value of the two-/three-course fixed-price lunch menus is complemented by a special offer of a glass of house wine for £2.95, and Sunday lunch includes a traditional roast. With the arrival of summer, you can eat alfresco and soak up the sun or sit under a shady parasol in the pretty, secluded patio garden.
