Voted Best Cheap Eats in the South West in the Observer Food Monthly Awards 2007 and Best Lunch on the Run in the Metro Food and Drink Awards 2006, Blackstones Kitchen is a gourmet takeaway. Restaurant-quality dishes are prepared freshly in the open kitchen for you to take back to your desk, to the park for a picnic or home for dinner.
Takeaway breakfasts include “fragrant, fruity muffins that put the standard coffee-chain offerings to shame” (www.squaremeal.co.uk) and the best bacon rolls ever. For lunch, choose from Blackstones’ famous roasts in a roll, flavoursome and nutritious salads, soups and daily specials – so much more than the usual rows of sandwiches. You can also grab a ready meal to take home for dinner, delicious cakes and baked goodies (their brownies are famous) and deli treats, like jars of Blackstones chilli jam and homemade ketchup. You can even order a cake for a special occasion.
Blackstones sources the vast majority of its ingredients locally, preparing them simply and with care to create unfussy, nourishing food. The Blackstones style ranges from traditional comfort food to dishes with more multicultural influences. No wonder Terry Durack couldn’t resist popping in when he came to review Blackstones Restaurant for the Independent on Sunday. He declared Blackstones Kitchen “a lovely spot with its eat-me-now menu… I pick up a jar of Blackstones chilli jam and realise with a shock that it is still warm. OK, now I’m in love.” |
