● Charmingly rustic restaurant housed in an 18th century building, with exposed brickwork, comfortable furniture and candles. ● All the food is freshly prepared each day – even the bread and ice-cream - at this 17th century pub with log fires, high-backed wall settles and valley views. A passion for good food and good wine (over 100 bins from around the world - a lot of choice for a little pub) means that the food, unpretentious but delicious, is a real winner, as well as being reasonably priced. Choices range from hearty mains to fabulous sandwiches, so there’s something for every pocket. Finish things off with an aperitif in the intimate bar.

● It’s a bit hard to find down that little alleyway, but worth a hunt for its charming interior, which includes an old well in the centre of the main room and a spooky cellar bar. The kitchen “does not serve fast food. We serve good food as fast as we can.” It certainly ticks all our culinary boxes, with speciality burgers (ostrich, kangaroo) adding a frisson of excitement to lunch. A band of happy regulars are testimony to the good service and great grub.
