START THE BUS
7-9 Baldwin St, BS1 1RU
Tel: 0117 930 4370, web: www.startthebus.tv, www.myspace.com/startthebus

● ‘Like the vehicle driven by Keanu Reeves, this bus is already up to speed. Start the Bus? Start the Buzz, more likely,’ wrote our man after STB’s opening night. Two years on, the wilfully eclectic, Venue Top Banana-winning scene-setting mix of quizzes, jumble sales, upstairs art gallery, bingo, after-parties, local film showings and more, continues to thrive, all fuelled by sarnies, burgers (including a ‘hippy’ variety), Bath Ales Gem-battered fish & chips, Pieminister pies and Welsh rarebit, plus sides, desserts, fine Sunday roasts and varied drink options. Our man dropped in again recently to see an electronic duo (who’d driven from Paris that day to play here) blown away by their support act. Them’s the breaks – as Keanu Reeves probably didn’t say to Sandra Bullock. Open Mon-Wed 10am-1am, Thur-Sat 10am-3am, Sun 12noon-1am Food Mon-Fri 10am-10pm, Sat 10am-9pm, Sun 12noon-9pm

31 Corn St, BS1 1HT
Tel: 0117 929 0118, www.31cornstreet.co.uk

The emphasis is increasingly on its role as a bar and late-night venue but food is served daily and all day from Friday through Sunday. The grill menu has yet to be confirmed but steaks, pizzas and pastas are set to feature prominently. Food Mon-Thur 5-9pm, Fri-Sun 12noon-9pm.
